A well-curated wine collection takes considerable time to create. It deserves proper maintenance as it ages. While choosing a location you should consider these 5 crucial concerns.
Natural disaster can strike at any time. Your collection coming into contact with extremes of temperature can be potentially disastrous. State-of-the-art security systems and cameras protect all Domaine facilities. The buildings are secured in a variety of methods including layered security doors and redundant alarm sensors. Perimeter, motion, heat, smoke, and humidity detectors have been installed throughout the facility with all sensors and control panels wired to backup power.
A generator on an automatic transfer switch has the capability to power the entire building including cooling units, security systems and computers.
Wine should be stored between 53-56F with humidity levels at 60-70% at all times. Both current and historical levels can be viewed for all Domaine facilities online.
No sources of exterior light should come into contact with the bottles. Each Domaine facility uses incandescent lights that are turned off when not needed. However, there is plenty of light in the areas where you need to work.
Vibration can cause leakage in corks, or worse yet, breakage. We have taken great pains to remove all sources of vibration. Refrigeration equipment is ceiling mounted on isolation brackets to prevent any disruptions to the lockers.
